Farm Nutrients was founded in 2003 to provide nutrient management for the newly formed Rembrandt Enterprises. We began supplying the poultry litter by-product from the Rembrandt egg production facility to local corn and soybean growers in the Rembrandt, Iowa area. In 2004, Farm Nutrients acquired specialized spreading equipment and hired trained operators to provide growers with exceptional litter application.

Spreader Equipment Operator

The Spreader Equipment Operator operates company owned spreader and the various aspects of manure spreading when fields are available to spread. Ensures product quality, equipment maintenance and overall equipment efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates gator to spread organic fertilizer including the operation of GPS application equipment
  • Operates spreading equipment in a way that ensures fields are spread in a quality and efficient manner
  • Completes spreading log and required paperwork 
  • Coordinates spreading schedule with scale house and customer to optimize the spreader path 
  • Schedules and performs routine maintenance checks – oil, fluids, etc. 
  • Assists in maintaining product quality in the barns and operating SCAT machine 
  • Operates a front end loader to move product and/or load trucks 
  • Operates pay-loader in field to load spreader 
  • Drives equipment on roads to reposition equipment to fields 
  • Performs other functions including site and equipment maintenance as defined by the supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Overnight travel up to 30% 
  • Experience spreading fertilizer to agriculture land 
  • DNR applicators license or willing to pursue 
  • Ability to communicate with farmers and have base knowledge of farming 
  • Ability to drive tractors, front-end loaders, pay-loader, skid loader, scat machine & fertilizer spreaders 
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely 
  • Awareness and knowledge of surroundings in relation to climate, atmosphere and equipment 
  • Hand/Eye/Foot Coordination 
  • Independent Self Starter/Team Player 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand 
  • Intermediate English: fluent: speaking, reading and writing 
  • Mathematical skills: General Arithmetic/Basic Algebra/Percentages/Fractions


  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license, Class "A" CDL or other DOT qualifications for operation of a commercial motor vehicle 
  • Fine Motor Skills 
  • Computer Skills: Touch screen, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet 
  • Mechanical and heavy equipment knowledge


  • Hard hat/Helmet/Hearing protection/ Safety glasses/Respirator mask/Harness for protection 
  • Trucks/ Tractor/Front-end Loader/Pay-loader/Scat machine/Ground-keeping equipment
