Breaking Plant Maintenance Lead

Job Summary:

Direct and perform mechanical maintenance including, but not limited to, routine and preventative maintenance of process equipment, buildings, and grounds.  Maintain mechanical systems, including but not limited to, refrigeration, boilers, air, electrical and ammonia systems.  Lead and conduct maintenance tasks and complete related projects.  Ensure staff productivity and successful completion of assigned tasks in allotted time.  Work closely with maintenance and managers to resolve issues.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and assist maintenance personnel in performing maintenance duties
  • Ensure staff productivity
  • Implement preventative maintenance program for new equipment
  • Mentor maintenance technicians
  • Maintain egg processing equipment
  • Maintain mechanical systems, including but not limited to refrigeration, boilers, and air systems.
  • Maintain water and waste water systems
  • Preventative and routine maintenance of building, equipment and grounds
  • Communicate with management on day-to-day maintenance issues
  • Ability to order parts and maintain parts inventory
  • On-call duties/responsible for maintenance operations of plant on weekends and nights.
  • Understand and interpret company, industry, state and federal regulations
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Public relation skills and phone etiquette
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Computer skills:  Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet
  • Solid understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to operate a fork lift and walkies
  • Five years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Electrical knowledge
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely
  • Knowledge of chemical usage and safety
  • Ability to work in high elevations

Preferred:

  • Seven years of experience in manufacturing environment

Equipment:

  • Safety:  Rubber boots, respirator mask, hair net, beard net, smock, disposable apron, face shield, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protection, chemical resistant non-slip steel toed boots or shoes, harness
  • Pumps, electric motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chemical distribution systems, metal lathes, drills and saws
  • Grounds-keeping equipment
  • Hand tools/power tools
  • Large push broom, kitchen pull broom, squeegee, floor mop
  • High pressure wand and air hoses
  • Pressure washer
  • Forklift and pallet jacks

  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system
  • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring
  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits.
  • Perform quality activities, training sessions and employee team activities when needed
  • A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies.
