Contract Flock Advisor

The Contract Flock Advisor advises and supports contracted layer producers for maximum layer performance at optimal production costs. This position ensures layer producers supply safe, quality eggs that are produced in an environment that meets all regulatory, legal and contractual requirements.  The Contract Flock Advisor ensures producers provide a safe work place, implement and follows safety rules and programs. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Inspects farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards

  • Provides technical assistance to producers in regards to the proper care and comfort for contracted birds

  • Locates, diagnoses and responds to production/performance and bird health problems

  • Monitors feed consumption and orders feed if necessary

  • Tracks, analyses and consults producers on layer productivity

  • Supervises vaccine orders, inventories and  schedules

  • Manages lab submissions

  • Reports all producer site activity to management

  • Advises producers regarding building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation and farm sanitation

  • Maintains an accurate knowledge of the market and reports accurate data on changing costs or supplies

  • Works directly with contract producers, flock advisors, Cage Free Business Unit Manager and the supply chain team to ensure successful on-boarding of new producers

  • Resolves producer issues and complaints in a timely and diplomatic manner

  • Demonstrates competency with poultry health, disease bio-security measures as it relates to egg production

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions in forecasting and anticipating company needs
  • Negotiation and public relation skills with ability to maintain a professional customer service orientation and resolve conflicting interests with the goal of obtaining cooperation
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress
  • Independent  Self Starter/Team Player
  • Attention to detail
  • Travel as required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Computer Skills: MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Internet, Touch Screens
  • Mathematical Skills:  Logical/Analytical, Percentages, Fractions, Moderate Algebra
  • Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
  • Advanced English: fluent in: speaking, reading and writing

 

Preferred:

  • Poultry contract experience
